Violet Evergarden portrays one of the purest form of love in anime and so much worse type of romance are present in other stories. Violet and Gilbert where both poor souls who are growing out of this pain with the help of each other and pure love, and "I" think that's incredibly romantic despite the age difference.
Does anyone know why Benedict wears heels? I'm not a historian, but I believe heels were fashionable for men in the era Violet Evergarden is supposedly set in (even if fictional). So he can trip and break his ankle later (KyoAni is known for having small details in each episode). That is one of my favorite things about this anime; the setting
He teaches her to read and write and provides for her. He cares for Violet, and she ends up forming a bond with Gilbert. When Gilbert “dies”, without his guidance or orders, Violet feels empty. She feels as though she has no purpose with the war over. The one person who showed her care and love…is gone.
She is the youngest of the recurring cast, so it stands to reason that she would show signs of aging the most. Yeah, from what I'm aware, there's a solid amount of time between the start of the series and the movie. Even during the events of Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll there's a solid time jump.
Becoz it would be depressing if they didn't meet. Violet met Gilbert at the end of the movie. Gilbert is still alive. He is a teacher in a school on an island. Ngl, I kinda hoped he wouldn’t be there. I always loved the (kinda) baldness of them to kill him and giving Violet a reason, why she wants to be a doll.
